Chloe vs. The squirrel

Okay, as I have mentioned on other peoples blogs, my dog is the sweetest thing you will ever meet. She is a beagle/Bassett mix with some chow thrown in. She is not very tall but very long. She is about fifty pounds of pure muscle.

She does have a couple of ticks, though. For example, she has so much anxiety that the vet has us giving her allergy medicine to calm her down. This helps keep her from chewing things up when were not around. Because she is constantly stressed, her eyes are always bloodshot. And shines wines constantly, especially now that the doc wants us to give her only 2 cups of food a day, which means she is always hungry. He suggested we feed her celery, apples and sometimes banana. She refuses to touch the stuff. And this from the dog who will eat a light bulb and chew on a battery! And when she barks, you nearly jump out of your skin!

But that is nothing compared to her ongoing battle with the squirrel. The Family always knows when The Squirrel makes its appearance. Chloe's hair stands on end, her body gets really stiff and her eyes are fixated on whatever she sees in the back yard. Then she goes all commando; literally attacking the window!

But The Squirrel, I believe is smarter than The Dog. Chloe does not seem to understand that no matter how much she attacks the glass door, she still can not get to the pest from inside the house. The squirrel, I am telling you knows this and enjoys every minute of it. He/she will sit on a branch chattering away at Chloe and shaking it's tail at her. The only way for peace to be restored is for me to go outside and yell at The squirrel. "Shoo! Go away!" Now who looks more pathetic, me or the dog? Never mind. Forget I asked.
